The Waddesdon Wednesday Club host afternoon tea and activities for members. They are celebrating the Queens Birthday with a special afternoon tea and this will also be an opportunity to formally thank volunteers for their’ efforts. The club is 35 years old in October 2016, and some volunteers have provided support since the club’s inception. Two performing groups will visit on Wednesday 8th June and prospective new members are invited to join us for this special celebratory event.
1st June is Aylesbury Youth Action’s (AYA) official birthday – it marks the first meeting of the young people in 1971 to plan their volunteering projects around Aylesbury. 45 years on, AYA continues to strive to be youth-led in its approach to volunteering – supporting young people to take action in their community to address local needs.
On 1st June AYA are having a fun stall in Aylesbury Market Square, where local people can have a go at ‘hook-a-duck’ or our tombola. We shall also be doing some face painting, and you’ll have the chance to enter our ice cream competition to design a bespoke ice cream flavour that represents Aylesbury Youth Action!
We continue with our birthday celebrations for a full 40 days throughout June and early July!
On the 4th June we have a volunteer reunion at The Works for anyone who used to volunteer at AYA (tickets need to be booked in advance via our ‘Aylesbury Youth Action Fellowship’ Facebook group), and 6th June kick-starts 30 days of fundraising support from Harris and Hoole Coffee Shop, which will also see our face painting team and some children’s crafts and games in the coffee shop on 18th June. You’re sure to see AYA out and about over the next few weeks in our purple for our #40daysofpurple fun, so please do stop and say Hi!
